📚 Volume of Rectangular Pyramids

The Formula

V = ⅓ × B × h    where B = l × w

A rectangular pyramid is one-third the volume of the rectangular prism with the same base and height. Multiply the base area (l × w) by the height, then divide by 3.

1
Find the base area — multiply length × width.
l=4, w=3 → B = 12
2
Multiply by height — gives the prism volume.
B=12, h=5 → 12 × 5 = 60
3
Divide by 3 — pyramids are one-third of a prism.
60 ÷ 3 = 20 units³

Worked Example

l = 6, w = 5, h = 8

B = 6×5 = 30
30 × 8 = 240
240 ÷ 3
80 units³

⚠ Missing Dimension Mode

!
If Volume and two dimensions are given, work backwards to find the missing one.
V=80, l=6, w=5 → B=30 → h = (80×3)÷30 = 8
