Proportional Relationships

A proportional relationship has the form y = kx and always passes through the origin (0, 0). The constant k is the unit rate.
$5 per item → y = 5x  •  k = 5

To find k from a table: k = y ÷ x using any row (they all give the same answer!)

To find a missing value: first find k, then multiply. y = k × x
k = 6, x = 8 → y = 6 × 8 = 48
