📚 Volume of a Sphere

The Formula

V = 43 π r³

The volume of a sphere depends only on its radius. Cube the radius, multiply by π, then multiply by four-thirds.

Cube the radius first: r × r × r.
r = 5 → 5³ = 125

Multiply by π (use 3.14) and by 4, then divide by 3.
V = 4(3.14)(125) ÷ 3 = 1570 ÷ 3 ≈ 523
If you are given the diameter, cut it in half first!
d = 14 → r = 7

Worked Example (from the lesson video!)

A ball has a diameter of 14 in. Radius = 14 ÷ 2 = 7.
V = 43(3.14)(7)³ = 43(3.14)(343) = 4308.08 ÷ 3 ≈ 1436 in³
